Mardin Digital Bibliography Mardin Digital Bibliography

About the Project

The Mardin Digital Bibliography is a scientific source compilation and discovery project developed by the Mardin Studies Application and Research Center (MAUM). The platform brings together verified bibliographic records of academic publications about Mardin and its surroundings, and lets users see the author, subject, place, period and discipline connections between publications.

The project is not a plain publication list or a file repository. The core product is a bounded, verified and relational bibliographic discovery system focused on Mardin studies.

Scope

The geographic scope covers Mardin province, all its districts (Artuklu, Dargeçit, Derik, Kızıltepe, Mazıdağı, Midyat, Nusaybin, Ömerli, Savur, Yeşilli), the Tur Abdin region, the Dara and Boncuklu Tarla archaeological sites, and Mardin's explicitly defined historical regional connections.

While cultural heritage carries particular weight, the disciplinary scope includes history, art history, architecture, archaeology, education, health, language, tourism, sociology, anthropology, geography, environment, economics and all other Mardin research.

Operator and team

The project is run by the Mardin Studies Application and Research Center at Mardin Artuklu University. Contact: mam@artuklu.edu.tr

The idea of drawing scattered publications on Mardin together into a single point of access originates with Fırat Allak, PhD (firatallak@artuklu.edu.tr).

Setting the archive's boundaries, surveying and compiling the sources, and putting the editorial decision process on written rules were carried out jointly by Fırat Allak, PhD, and Muhammed Çuha, Lecturer (muhammedcuha@artuklu.edu.tr).

The information architecture, user interface, software infrastructure, data-processing tools and web design were developed by Muhammed Çuha.

Running subject expertise and software development at the same table is what turned the result into a reference tool fitted to a researcher's daily practice, rather than a store of bibliographic records.

Version 2.0 — expanded archive and relational discovery.
